Philosophy

Our Philosphy

We acknowledge children are strongly influenced throughout their lives by early life experiences. Our desire is to encourage a positive attitude in which learning is regarded as a continuous part of life. By developing a child’s self respect, self confidence, and independence, in a creative and supportive environment, we help each child to reach out, to explore and to expand his or her abilities. We feel it is important to cultivate motivation and a love of learning. We find it exciting to help children discover that they have the power to acquire the skills necessary to achieve their goals.

Live Oak’s daily schedule and curriculum encourages child centered learning, supplemented by teacher provocations to allow children to become independent thinkers, experience risk taking and experimentation.  We believe curriculum that builds upon a child’s strengths and interests fosters higher learning. The materials used in our school assist in promoting inquisitiveness and reflection.  The learning opportunities at Live Oak allow a child to experience him or herself as an important and unique individual. They allow children to develop responsible individual behavior. In our curriculum we strive to maintain a healthy mixture of social, physical, language, cognitive, creative art, and musical experiences. Our goal is to motivate children to learn by doing, and actively participate in their learning while acquiring new knowledge and skills.

We respect each child as an individual with a unique pace of learning and growth. Our experience has proven that in a secure and loving atmosphere a child grows without fear of failure and with pride in what “I can do.” As a result, individual growth and skill attainment are acquired eagerly and rapidly at the appropriate stage of development for each child.

Each child brings joy and a sense of magic to us. In turn, we trust that our school also brings joy and inspiration to each child.
